A Wednesday

Once Arleen asked me to talk about what my life was like day-to-day out here. So last Wednesday I took pictures of all the things I did so I could show you a pretty regular day. Here's that day:

I usually wake up around eight and often head up to the 4th floor for coffee at Emily's around nine. Clair always answers the door
I visit with Emily for a while and then usually watch the kids while she gets organised to go out
This is what I see when I leave my apartment building. Thats "the gate" it shows the beginning of Chinatown.
 That's my apartment building.
Then I take the LRT to school from Churchill Station.
I take the train over the North Saskatchewan. This has always been a favourite part of living in Edmonton for me. I thought the novelty would ware off but I still stop reading to look out the window every time.
I get off at the University Station, its generally nuts.
When its cold, I can get to my office without going outside. I go through this long hallway called HUB mall. Those little coloured squares are open windows of some of the residents.
When I'm lucky I run into people I know on a coffee break. Kurt's on the right, he's the one that introduced me to most of the department when I started. The other guy is his ginger friend Andrew
This is my office spot. Its not usually this neat. Its lonely in here because our doors are card-swipe entry so we can't keep them open. I share an office with Erica now, which is great cause it was lonely after the last PhD in the office, Anna left
I put up some things in my office. From left to right, thats a comic from harkavagrant.com about Jules Vern crushing on Edgar Allan Poe; a post card of Keanu in Point Break from Murray, a tacky picture of Jenna, Danielle and I that they brought when they surprised me for my birthday last year, and a picture of the field school class I TA'd in the spring - We built a city while watching The Wire.
The best afternoons are when we go for coffee. This day was especially good because we ALL went for coffee. This is Erica and Matt (he's not that cheesy - Movember)
Kurt took this one of Jen, Amy and I so you guys could see what I look like now. The same.
They do mad construction in HUB, its like a real street.
Amy's friend stopped by to chat - look at this dope jacket she was wearing. The kicker is she found it in the boys section at a thrift store. best.
On my way home from school. The topography is annoying in Edmonton, but the views are nice.
I looked after Clair that night for a bit. The thing about living in our apartment building is people just leave their art everywhere when they want to get rid of it.
We climbed on the gate for a minute
Then went to the Noodle Maker behind our house for some Gyoza and Ramen
Watched some movie with the owner for a bit
Then headed back to Clair's place to eat and watch My Friend Totoro. CATBUS!!!!
Clair made some stingbite faces, as per uj
Then I took the train down to meet some friends for a beer
Matt and Marco at Martini's for someone's going away party that I didn't know.
Then I took the train back home. Xmas lights up and everything

That's it, cool guy.
