Scarface meets Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights

We were planning on going to a comedy show and taking it easy last night - instead we ended up at a salsa bar in Harlem and got home at 6:30.

Our girl Carolina told us we should come to this club with her so Alysha and I and the dudes that live across the hall got ready and headed out. It didn't seem like anyone except Carolina was that excited about it and it didn't help that here was a big line when we got there.
They also hassled Louis, Carolina's friend who invited us about sneakers and dress code. Carolina worked it out like she always does - I have never met such a sweet talker in my life.

All of our woes quickly disappeared when we walked into the staircase and the entire thing was covered with zebra print and mirrors. I swear this bar looked so much like Scarface its rediculous. Everything was mirrors and animal print with the best lighting. all the pillars were palm trees.
I also happened to be wearing zebra print. I matched everything around me. CREAM get the money...

Alysha and I set up on some steps so we could see the dance floor and were immediately jealous that every single person there knew how to salsa except for us.

I'm pretty sure we were the only white girls in there - I was for sure the only redhead. Some guy told me we looked like we were from Pennsylvania - dis?

We definitely learned to salsa last night - though i'm pretty sure we were gassed up about our talent.

we have both resolved to take salsa lessons.

At about 4 in the morning the band came on. I wished i knew who they were and was as excited as everyone else in there. they seemed like a big deal - it was so awesome ending the night watching a live salsa band when it was sooooo hot and packed and scarface-looking.

we ended up cabbing home at 5 in the morning, watching the sun come up over the east river as we drove down FDR. Carolina and I made Alysha take a picture - it looks like romantic perfection.
