arted out.

Aysha and I met up with my cousin Jenny Tuesday. She lives on 46th e. by the UN building - I guess thats midtown? Anyway, the feel of it was definitely different then downtown where we stay. It was more like how I picture new york - you know , the real hustle and bustle of the city. We passed a photo shoot on the way there, it fit perfectly.

Jenny's place was also how I picture New York apartments, with a beautiful lobby and doorman - her place was so nice. It was great seeing her again and meeting her kids, Hayden and Hannah for the first time. We caught up on family business and each others lives and reminisced a little about Pine Falls, etc. Glad I'll be able to keep in better contact with her now.
We went for a walk to Grand Central and on the way got some Cupcakes (note: we planned on saving these till later but carrying them around all day and night made them slowly disappear) and then went by Hayden's "waterfall park". Dad - you would love this concept, its a little park on the middle of a busy street with a waterfall loud enough that when you step into the park, you can't hear the city noise. The waterfall park along with the dog runs in various city parks have made clear the need for pressure in order to innovate - thats winnipeg's road block, no pressure.

Spent some time in Grand central - Alysha and I talked into the corners of some foyer and heard each other like a telephone. Alysha was pumped.

Met up with Toby for David Sedaris - dont get jealous, it didn't pan out. We got there and the place was already full along with a block-long line of people getting their books signed. sad.
To console ourselves we went to Crocodile Lounge where you get a free pizza with every beer. yes you read that right.

Spent the rest of the night wondering around the Lower East Side, stopped in at a place with a pirate bartending where the jukebox just had people's mixtapes. what a good idea.

Wednesday was Toby's last day. Took him to Little Poland where he said the food tasted like his grandmas kitchen. Then headed back to the galleries in the meat packing/chelsea area. better luck this time. so much art. we were all arted out. They have a place called the Art Building that is just 9 floors with 2 or 3 galleries per floor.

Went for Vannessa's Dumplings - a place we will keep in mind when we are running low on cash - and then made it to the movie theatre for Pontypool, a word-zombie movie done by the guy who made Hard Core Logo. It was incredible and Canadian, there were some jokes just for us.

Walk home was garbage - it rained all day and got cold. Looks the same today, planning on finding a non-art related museum.
