First of all, this was hard to write because unless there was a specific event we never know the date. it requires a lot of counting back from the last show we went to.
Second of all, I'm glad Alysha and I are best friends. She told me I'm getting the sister treatment.
Tuesday we went to Williamsburg pretty late in the day and found some rad vintage shops where alysha debated whether she actually liked the clothes she picked out or just couldn't pass up made deals on high end designs. she tried on prada. i bought a jenna purse so i don't have to take my back pack everywhere. its much less touristy.
We knew santogold was playing on Tuesday night with Amanda Blank but also that it was sold out - but when has that stopped us? not with the take-off in effect. we thought the bar it was at was in Brooklyn but asked around and found out it was in midtown. We had trouble finding it but asked a group of hipsters that looked like they would be going there - they happened to have an extra ticket, found a scalper for a 2nd ticket and we were set!
the band opening Trouble Andrew was super cheesy rock and roll that i totally loved and bought the CD even though i can't listen to it.
Amanda blank was rad. again - dude from spank rock was there again and they did the LL song with santogold thats on the top rankin' mixtape. it pretty much ruled.
Santogold ruled but it was packed and hard to see. Seeing people perform in the city they're from is pretty dope, theres definitely a different energy.
I can't believe that worked out.
Wednesday we went down Fulton Mall in Brooklyn but only covered half and not the half we were directed to i don't think. anyway, we somehow ended up in Park Slope again. had sushi for dinner and then headed back our way. We spent the night in and hung out with some of our housemates. Frankie D is a paralegal from orange county, Gregory is Ukrainian and does something with computers and Carolina is from Barcelona. After hanging out with them the house seemed less like a bukowskian rooming house and more like the Real World. but less swank. so more like the real real world?
We went out for pizza later at this place by our house that plays movies every Monday. airplane last Monday, Conan this Monday. word.
Thursday and Friday next - there is some swank there.
